This past Sunday, November 5, 2006 we were able to experience a wonderful group of motorcyclists from the ABATE motorcycle organization. They sponsor this fantastic run of approximately 70,000 cyclist who participate in bringing toys for the children to be given out for Christmas. The wonderful group of cyclist who came up to the oncology floor and handed out t-shirts and gift bads with treats in it and Jack showed his gratitude to this bunch by giving each of them one of his "Found NEMO-Finding Cure" www.cure4jack.org wristbands. Thank You ABATE!

I have been told by several people that they have not been unable to post a comment or guestbook entries on this website. There is obviously a problem, I have even tried to comment on our other NEMO kids websites with the same server as us and have not been able to post. We would love to get your comments so please don't give up trying. Hopefully the problem will get fixed soon.

Otherwise, Jack is doing well. We had clinic on Tuesday and his counts are in the toilet since the infection he had last week, but they are showing signs of recovering. The doctors say it is not unusual for this to happen when these transplant kids are fighting infection. They don't get too concerned, but of course for peace of mind I asked them to rerun the engraphment studies and Jack is still 100% donor. WooHoo!!! Yipee!! and of course Thank God. We are going back to Philly tomorrow (Friday 9/8) to run some more bloodwork to check his platelets and give him some IVIG's. They were unable to IV access Jack on Tuesday, his veins are so beat up so they decided to give him a couple of days rest and hopefully his platelet level will come up so he won't need to get platelets. Please pray.

I know I ask this of all of you so often but please continue to pray, we aren't totally out of the woods yet. I am also asking you keep all the children who our in our circle of transplant kids in your prayers as well. Especially, Matthew, Ronnie and Danasia, who are in the hospital and need those extra prayers to get them through.

Today wasy Christina's first day of 3rd grade. She was pretty excited to get back to school but more excited that her best friend Charlene is in her class........I smell trouble!!!!! Ahh, they're good kids they won't be any trouble at all...................

New Pictures are Up

We haven't put any pictures in quite a while. I got an email from my Aunt Robin saying we want pictures, pictures, pictures, so here they are. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cure4jack/
I will catch up on some old ones that have to be posted. It has been a very crazy summer, Jack in and out of the hospital, sometimes just kicking back and enjoying the time he has been home and sometimes just being to tired to do it. But sometimes good things take time.

Good News

Roy is off the hook................He took Christina to the orthopedic doctor on Monday for her to get her hard cast and it turns out, her arm isn't broken. The doctor said after reviewing her x-rays that she spraned it pretty good and gave her a splint that can come off for swimming, bathing and at night. Thank God for that!!!! She still needs to take it easy, so no gymnastics for several weeks.

Yesterday we went to clinic and Jack is doing well. All his counts are up again and we are working on changing a couple of his meds. We've been having some vomiting issues and some really loose, frequent stools and Roy and I think it's the potassium he's been getting. We decided on our own to eliminate one of the potassium's to see if it makes a difference and it's helped a little but Dr. Bunin said lets give him a rest on his feeds, so tonight will be the first night we go without formula. We are however, going to give him some pedialyte just to make sure we keep up with his fluid intake so he doesn't dehydrate. This is a really big step, if Jack does well without the feeds and he starts eating better (swallowing some foods is an issue for Jack) then maybe, just maybe we may be able to stop the night feeds totally. Please pray that Jack does well without the feeds and that he can sustain his weight. Dr. Bunin also arranged an appointment for us to see a gastroenterologist next week to make sure we're on the right path as well as consider having Jack get an endoscopy, which he hasn't had in over a year and a half. By having a scope this will give us an idea of what his gut is doing and to see if he still has some of the ulcers he had some time ago as well as see if the transplant has made a difference in his gut. This is all what we have been waiting for, Jack getting an immune system that will help the threat of infections as well as helping to make his gut work better with a working immune system. As most of you know, his gut issues (Crohn's like symptoms) seem to have been a result of the NEMO, so we sit and pray for the transplant to have made a difference.

I haven't said it in a while, but I just want to Thank everyone again for continuing to keep us in your prayers. We're not out of the woods yet and could still use knocks, crosses and prayers. God Bless

I recieved this email today from my paster at the Caldwell United Methodist Church. It just seemed very appropriate to post. "The Slow Work of God" is the key to faith. If it weren't for faith and the power of prayer where would we be? I thank everyone for their continued prayers for Jack and pray for God's "slow work" to lead him through a successful transplant to a long life. Amen
