Banzai Roadtrip To Philly

| | Comments (0)

Well, it has been a while since this the last blog. Things have been very busy around here. Running here and there, going through boxes and boxes getting ready for the garage sale. The stuff is piling up - toys, games, books, furniture and other misc.stuff. You can't imagine the stuff that has been collected and stored over the years.

Anyway the real reason we're here. Monday was one of those days you wish you could restart. Jack's J-tube (feeding tube) clogged. Which means no formula, no medication, no nothing going through it. So we make the phone calls to CHOP and arrange to have it replaced. I spoke to Interventional Radiology(IR) at 1:00pm, they told us to be their before 4:00pm. So Charlotte jumped in the car and off she went. Got to Philly by 4:00 and was done and out by 5:00. Jack did not have to get knocked out for it so that was a plus. He is such a big man, they took him into IR by himself; laid him down on the table and replaced his tube. Not a sound out of him, no crying, no whining. After he was finished he got up and said "me got new huba". He came home and ran in lifting his shirt showing off his new tube saying "me got new huba". He is so proud of his new tube, it is so funny. 2:00 PM to 7:00 pm to Philly and back = a Banzai Roadtrip. Charlotte's really getting good at it.

This is Jack's Physical Therapist Trudy. Over the last 2 yrs. Trudy has been coming to our house to work with Jack. She has helped Jack overcome the setbacks caused by extended hospital stays. Trudy works with Jack to help him achieve the normal milestones of a healthy child, such walking, running, jumping, climbing and those other physical therapy (PT) type issues. Trudy came to us through Early Intervention and unfortunately when Jack turned 3 Early Intervention ended.
Trudy won't be doing PT with Jack anymore but hopefully she will still come by and see Jack. We will miss seeing her every week.

First and Foremost I would like to send our thoughts and prayers to the people on the Gulf Coast, who have suffered and lost from the wrath of Hurricane Katrina. I have been glued to the T.V. for the past week watching in disbelief. I can not imagine what these people are dealing with. Please Pray for them.

Now, Today was Jack's 3rd Birthday. I cannot believe it has been 3 years, because sometimes it feels like lifetime. Jack had a great day. He is a big fan of "Thomas & Friends" aka "Thomas the Tank Engine". So today was a "Thomas" birthday. Oma & Opa, Pop Pop and Charlotte, Christina & I all pitched in to buy Jack a Thomas playset with track and village and all the trimmings. Grandma gave him the electric Thomas engine with 3 or 4 cars attached and some super hero clothes. He got a Thomas movie and some other Thomas stuff from Aunt Bubbles aka (Julie) & Uncle Drew, Vincent, James, & Ronya (Veronica). Vinnie and Laura gave him a Spiderman outfit with an awesome Spiderman jacket. We went out to dinner then came home and had a cake decorated with a Thomas theme. This was Jack's 1st real cake because of all the suspected food allergies and all the other issues Jack has had. All in all Jack's 3rd was great one. It is the great feeling to see kids smile. It is the best feeling to see Jack smiling, playing and fighting with Christina.
Everybody enjoy the rest of this holiday weekend.
